Mass-Spectrometer Combined with Inductively-Coupled-Plasma (ICP – MS)

Method
Mass-spectrometry combined with an inductively-coupled-argon-plasma (ICP – MS) allows the rapid qualitative and quantitative multi-element determination mainly of traces and ultra traces in solutions. Calibration is performed by mixed multi-element standards, which are matrix-matched with respect to the sample.

Sample preparation
Digestion methods such as microwave and high-pressure, as well as acid digestion are employed for the sample preparation of solids.

Required amount of sample
Quantities of at least 50 mg for traces and ultra traces are required.

Instrumentation
ICP-MS 820 Varian
Quadrupole – ICP – MS spectrometer with ultrasonic nebulizer (CETAC U-6000-AT+)
