Investigations by electron holography are realised in cooperation with the Triebenberg laboratory of the Dresden University of Technology (Dr. P. Simon). In contrast to classical TEM, electron holography enables microscopists to separate amplitude and phase of an electron wave. In particular, it becomes possible to image electrical potentials. This is essential for the study of biomineralisation processes.
