The International Max Planck Research School for Dynamical Processes in Atoms, Molecules and Solids is operated by the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems together with the faculty of mathematics and sciences of the Technische Universität Dresden, the Leibniz Institute for Solid-State and Materials Research as well as the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids. Beyond these leading research institutions in Dresden, neighbouring universities from Wroclaw (Poland) and Prague (Czech Republic) also participate in this initiative. The research focus of the school will be on theoretical and experimental studies of microscopic dynamics in matter covering a wide spectrum ranging from finite atomic and molecular systems up to infinite surfaces and solids. The roughly 15 research groups involved offer projects on non-equilibrium processes, transport phenomena, excitation and relaxation mechanisms or the optimal control of dynamics. We will run a lecture and seminar program which provide the students with a solid background in atomic, molecular and optical as well as condensed-matter physics and supports them in acquiring strong research skills on the way to their Ph.D.
